Haitian gang leader Jimmy “Barbecue” Cherizier, who has acted as a spokesperson for the gang alliance, said that he would not accept the presence of Kenyan police troops in Haitian territory. Jimmy Cherizier was seen leading a couple dozen riflehoisting followers whose faces were obscured by hoods or balaclavas. Meanwhile, the elite Kenyan Police Unit which is leading the international peacekeeping mission in Haiti has begun patrolling the streets of capital PortAuPrince. On the other hand, the armed gangs have declared war on the Kenyan forces calling them “invaders” of the Caribbean nation. At the same time, Haiti’s Prime Minister Gary Conille visited the United States after Washington promised to provide more funds and support to the Kenyaled international peacekeeping mission.
