I've wanted to get to the top of this huge Maui landmark by foot starting at the ocean every time I've visited this Hawaiian island. Doing a traverse starting at one point and traveling the entire crater then descending down another trail seemed even better. With two running buddies on board to share the experience, David Clancy and Curtis Day, it all came together to make the attempt a reality.

We weren't sure exactly what the distance would be. Nor did we know where precisely the trails went or how they connected. But we did have an amazing time on the mountain. It is a sublime place to experience in this way.
