Hammock Camping 101 | Where does my dog sleep when I go hammock camping | 2 options

Hammock camping is awesome and I love it. But there is a bit of a learning curve in order to have a good experience with hammock camping. It also takes a bit more work at camp to get your shelter setup than a tent. However, I feel like the sleep I get out of a hammock is worth the extra time I spend on setting up my hammock. Plus, I'm one of those guys who likes to fiddle around with my hammock once I'm at camp. I'm always looking for ways to improve my camping experience. If this sounds like you then hammock camping may be right for you.

This video describes the two different types of dog shelters I use when I go hammock camping with my dog, Sherpa...

1. Dutchware Pup Tent: This is a lightweight option with easy setup. It gives Sherpa great flexibility of getting in and out of the tent as she wants. The only thing I don't like about this option is that I don't have access to her during the night. I would like to be able to pet my dog and make sure she is okay. This option keeps her secure and safe but also isolated from me. And one of the reasons I bring my dog is because I want to spend time with her. So that lead me to option 2...

2. Grand Trunk Bug Net Shelter: This option requires a bit more setup and weighs twice as much at the Pup Tent but it is my preferred option. I like how it provides an enclosed space and allows me access to my dog. She is able to easily get in and out of the shelter. And what I really love about this option is that my dog likes to get up early in the morning to go out and pee, and this option allows me to unzip the bug net and let her out without me ever having to leave the warmth of my quilt and hammock.

Those are the two options I have explored. I'd love to hear different ways that you might provide a shelter for your dog when you go hammock camping. I'm always looking to improve my setup if possible.
