🦵🦿Hamstring exercises after ACL recon🦿🦵

99% of the content I put out on social for ACL rehab surrounds loading the quads to@ensure a safe and successful return to the field.

This would be closely reflected by the number of patellar tendon grafts that we typically see in MD. However, recently I’ve been working with a few more hamstring grafts and the similarities in difficulty regaining strength are much the same.

Whilst I still think quad is king, when working with a hammy graft ACL recon the challenge to get it to function at a minimum of 90% to the contralateral side is just as frustrating.

@erika_pritchard knows this all to well and in her offseason rehab for the @grandrapidsrise @dr_teej_dpt and I have been hammering posterior chain strengthening with her.

If you’ve also struggled with this, I’ve highlighted below the names of the exercises shown above that we’ve found have helped Erika on her quest to achieve symmetrical hamstring strength.

1 split stance barbell RDL
2 handheld assist SLRDLs (with hunnit lbs might I add)
3 weight assisted single leg TRX hammy curls
4 long lever single leg isometric hip thrusts

Notice the gazelle like approach to getting out of the hip thrusts. Pritch is smooth!
