Everybody's favourite Small Prairie No 4566 (The 4566 Preservation Group) will be celebrating its 100th Birthday this weekend (30th August/ 1st September) at the Highley's Engine House on the Severn Valley Railway. With the loco still out of ticket since its last run in 2016, the loco has since been on display. But during the past year or two fundraising for this loco has started and the Group will be at Highley this weekend raising money for the future overhaul of the 45. Activities to Model railways, sales stands and games will take place at the Engine House.
Its a loco I've always been fond of on the Valley especially when it made its appearance in BR Black towards the end of its ticket. The 45 is very much missed pulling trains down line. Here is one of my fondest memories of the loco, during a photo charter I ran with the Hoppers wagons in October 2016. The day was a cracking one and a great way of sending off the 45 before the end of its ticket.
