HarleyDavidson Big Twin is built completely different than the Sportster engine. You would think with the Sportster engine being regarded as the most reliable HarleyDavidson engine ever produced HarleyDavidson would of just built a larger version for the big twin. The HarleyDavidson big twin and the Sportster were just designed to do two completely different jobs. The Big Twin engine is more concerned torque production where as the Sportster is made for some higher revving horsepower. Both engine have their highlights and low lights but at the end of the day both engine are one big compromise.
