BMW has launched its heavy rework of the 1 Series small hatchback, now dubbed the F70 generation.

Based off the F40 launched in 2019, the new F70 is extensively remodelled from the windscreen forward, creating a sleeker profile, and includes a lot of finessing of exterior details.

The F70 interior has been completely revamped with a fresh minimalist design that robs liberally from the Munich carmaker’s electric lineup. The newcomer marks BMW’s debut deletion of the ‘i’ nomenclature from its petrol internal combustion models.

Arriving in late 2024, the F70 will initially be offered in two guises. Our video subject is the flagship M135 xDrive, offering 233kW/400Nm of power and 4.9sec 0100km potential from its allpaw format.

An entrylevel, frontdrive 118 variant will also be available with a boosted threecylinder engine good for 115kW and 230Nm.

This heavily restyled take is set to take the 1 Series lineup to 2030 and beyond.
