Designed in the later years of WWII to counter the German heavy tanks seen in Europe at the time, the T30 heavy tank was too late to enter combat, first produced in 1947. With one of the biggest cannons ever fitted on an American tank, the T30 is armed with a formidable rifled 155mm L/40 T7 main gun, two .50 cal M2 HB machine gun and a .30 cal M1919A4 machine gun.

Weighing in at a handsome 67+ tons, it was built to be manned by a crew of six, with two loaders to handle the proposed 98 lb 155mm shells. Armor on its hull ranges from Hull 3.7 to 7.0 in (94–178 mm) and 8.1 to 11.9 in (210–300 mm) on its cast turret.

This tank's current residence is with the National Armor and Cavalry Museum located at Ft. Benning in GA.
