In the spring of 2023 my dad and I started building a boat out of HDPE or High Density Polyethylene. I had the idea in my mind for years but couldn’t find the right size and wall thickness of pipe.

Finally I acquired the correct pipe and it didn’t take long to get started on the build. I have enough pipe to do one small “Test” boat to work out all the bugs and another larger boat as a final project.

The pipe was fused with a heat plate and the ribs and transom were hand fused with a heat gun and HDPE rods. There has definitely been some learning curves on this project, hopefully we get them all worked out before moving onto the bigger boat.
