The Honourable Mrs. Graham is one of the most famous paintings by Thomas Gainsborough and is especially interesting for its tragic backstory.

The story of the young couple who commissioned the painting takes a dark turn several years later.

Her husband likely didn't look at the portrait for over 5 decades until it was donated to the largest museum in Scotland.
