Healthier Liver with Master Yang

Follow
Calligraphy Health

In Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Five Element Theory, the liver is related to the element of wood and the emotion of anger. Liver problems can arise from various reasons, including emotional, physical and dietary factors. Frustration and anger can negatively affect the liver, leading to excessive irritability, aggression and inflexibility. Liver issues can also result in headaches, digestive problems, as well as eye conditions.

Internal organs are interconnected and an imbalance in one affects the others. The liver is responsible for storing and regulating blood and Qi/energy flow. When liver energy is balanced, emotions are stable, and Qi flows freely. A healthy liver provides the body and mind with flexibility, adaptability, and resilience.

To maintain good liver health, we can take care of our diet and minimize the consumption of alcohol and harmful substances. But the most important to take care of emotional balance, bringing more joy and laughter into our daily lives. As Master Yang likes to say 'The best liver detox is hahaha, a good laugh.'

We can also support the liver through acupuncture or acupressure, as well as movements such as the Calligraphy Health practice.

In this video Master Yang demonstrates acupressure on two points on the liver meridian. These points are located on the top of the foot, in the depression between the big toe and the second toe:
1. Huo Zhu Xue (also called Tai Chong Xue)
2. Huo Ying Xue (also called Xing Jian Xue)

To support your liver, massage a line along these points on your right foot (as the liver is on the right side of your body). Go from the top towards the toes. For the best results, massage or press for around 1 minute, 2–3 times a day.

Another way to support your liver is through body movements that stimulate its function and bring balance to all organs.

We invite you to join our upcoming online workshops where Master Yang will demonstrate such movements that support all five organs, including the liver:
