In this heat transfer video lecture, we solve an example problem about the cooling of a steel ball. We demonstrate how to calculate the Biot number to determine if the lumped capacitance approximation will be valid. We then determine how to plot the ball's temperature as a function of time. We also demonstrate how to calculate the time required for the ball to reach a predetermined temperature.
