This "lollipop" hike goes up to an alpine lake and around it. I did this hike in early July and wildflowers were just starting to bloom around the lake. This is a very popular hike, so try to go early and/or on a weekday. I started this hike about 7:30am on a Saturday and it was pretty peaceful going up, but coming back down it was like going the wrong way through a parade.

This trail is often more stream than trail, but it was fairly dry this time. There were some muddy stretches, and a few places where flowing water crossed the trail, but nothing deep at all. There are a lot of really rooty areas and some rocks to navigate as well. There is a ton of flagging out there marking all the improvements that are planned it's going to be amazing when all of that work is complete.

The road to the trailhead has been a mess for years and just keeps getting worse numerous very large potholes. A high clearance vehicle is strongly recommended, although I did see some sedans did make it.
