The astrological attributions of the Major Arcana are derived from the Sepher Yetsirah, a mysterious Kabbalistic document written in 12th century Spain.
The 22 Hebrew letters of the Hebrew alphabet correspond to the 22 cards of the Major Arcana tarot cards.
Each Hebrew letter is a pictograph and a number.

The Sepher Yetsirah added extra dimensions to each letter such as astrology.

A.E Waite used these attributions for his RiderWaite Tarot deck, but kept these attributions secret.

The Empress – Daleth ד , number 4. Venus. Daleth means a door
The Emperor – Heh ה , number 5, Aries. Heh means a window
The Hierophant – Vau ו , number 6. Taurus. Vau means a nail
The Lovers – Zain ז , number 7. Gemini. Zain means a sword
The Chariot – Cheth ח , number 8, Cancer. Cheth, means a wall or fence.
Strength – Teth ט , number 9, Leo. Teth means a serpent
The Hermit – Yod י , number 10, Virgo. Yod means a hand.
Fortune – Kaph כ , number 20. Jupiter. Kaph means the palm of the hand.
Justice – Lamed ל , number 30. Libra. Lamed mean an oxgoad
The Hanged Man – Mem מ , number 40, Water. Mem means the seas or water.
Death – Nun נ , number 50, Scorpio. Nun means a fish
Temperance – Samekh ס , number 60 Sagittarius Samekh means a prop
The Devil – Ayn ע . Number 70. Capricorn, Ayn means an eye.
The Tower – Peh פ , number 80, Mars. Peh means a mouth
The Star – Tzaddi צ , number 90. Aquarius. Tzaddi means a fishhook
The Moon – Qoph ק , number 100. Pisces, Qoph means the back of the head
The Sun – Resh ר , number 200. Sun. Resh, means the head
Judgment – Shin ש , number 300. Fire. Shin means a tooth.
