Hiking the Wainwrights Season 1: Eastern Fells Episode 5 Part 1. Swirral Edge, The Lake District

When you mention the Lake District to many people one of the first things that comes to their mind is England's third highest mountain, Helvellyn and its mighty ridges that reach around the glacial corrie of Red Tarn like a rocky embrace.

Striding Edge is a rite of passage for many walkers but the underrated and often overshadowed Swirral Edge is, in my eyes, just as fun and exhilarating; especially when tackling it going up, like I do in this first part of a twopart episode.
