Dr. Prakash Baba Amte is a social worker from Maharashtra, India. Younger son of Magsaysay awarded Baba Amte. He and his wife, Dr. Mandakini Amte, were awarded the Magsaysay Award for "Community Leadership".
A short film, Hemalkasa, is based on Dr. Prakash Amte and their work of Hemalkasa Maharashtra.
Lok Biradari Prakalp (LBP) is a social project of the Maharogi Sewa Samiti, Warora in Chandrapur district involving a hospital, a school, and an animal orphanage. It was started on 23 December 1973, by the social worker Baba Amte, for the integrated development of Madia Gond. It is in the village Hemalkasa of Bhamragad taluka in the Gadchiroli district.
Maharashtra state. The LBP project is at a distance of 160 k.m. from Gadchiroli district headquarters and 60 k.m. away from Allapalli.
Dr. Prakash Amte and his wife Dr. Mandakini Amte, who serve as the Medical Director and Medical Officer at the project, respectively, were awarded the 2008 Ramon Magsaysay Award for Community Leadership.
