Koyasan is the birthplace of Shingon Esoteric Buddhism.
It is a sacred place in Japanese Buddhism opened by the founder Kukai.
Along with Hieizan Enryakuji Temple, it is a mountain that has a great influence on the history of Japan.

In my interpretation, Kukai valued "living."
I felt like a teaching that I should live even if it is painful.
Kukai seemed to travel around the country teaching the importance of living for those who suffer from illness and those who suffer from disasters.

Kukai opens a training dojo on Mt. Koya.
By the way, Mt. Koya is a general term for mountain areas.
Many temples were built in the basin surrounded by eight peaks.
It became a sacred place for Shingon Esoteric Buddhism, and many people came to worship.

However, Koyasan did not allow women to enter the mountain until 1897.
Old women couldn't enter even if they wanted to worship.
A Nyonindo was built at the entrance of Mt. Koya for such a woman, and the woman visited the mausoleum from there.
And the pilgrimage road "Nyoninmichi" was completed to walk the Nyonindo built around the precincts of Mt. Koya.
I think that women in the old days longed for the mausoleum of Kobo Daishi.
You worshiped with faith even from a distance.

The Nyoninmichi that we walk this time is a pilgrimage route for women.
Even now, when I walk, I feel that it was a path of faith.
What kind of feeling did women in the old days worship?
It's fun to think about it in various ways.
