Hero of Two Nations | The Life u0026 Times of Casimir Pulaski

Casimir Pulaski, or Kazimierz Pułaski if you prefer, lived a heck of a life. Was the Bar Confederation ultimately successful in preventing the partition of Poland? Maybe not. Would someone else have saved George Washington's life if Ben Franklin hadn't recruited Pulaski one fateful day? Perhaps. But dang it, not just anyone will defend liberty in their own country, much less in someone else's. At least, that's what he said he was doing, he was technically a refugee mercenary. Happy Casimir Pulaski Day!

Footnotes:

1:15 The Liberum Veto. My word, the Liberum Veto. Imagine if every senator or MP or whatever had the power to, without explanation or justification, veto any bill they didn't like. Now imagine if they could also disband parliament until the next session. Now imagine if they could also nullify every single piece of legislation that had already been passed in that session. For a period of thirty years, PolandLithuania didn't pass a single law because of this bloody rule.

1:59 The Ottomans weren't part of the Seven Years War, but Mustafa III was already on screen and it would have been rude to kick him out.
