After a couple of weeks with no videos (thanks to injury, family weekends and an "action camera" that failed to get any decent video from last weeks Fountain Abbey parkrun) we're back and with needlessly dramatic music within 30 seconds!

Saturday saw me visiting the beautiful Herrington Country Parkrun, but not before I did something particularly stupid (for a man with 2 bad knees) and tackled the Penshaw Monument steps as a "warm up". I mean, a nighon 2mile warm up for a 3 mile run is excessive anyway, let alone tackling those steps!

But it was all good fun, and the parkrun has some lovely features, running round the lake, through fields, and there's some great cafes for after (Penshaw Farm Shop gets very busy mind, so either go for your PB or be prepared to queue a little!).

Not the flatest parkrun, but a couple of cheeky uphill stretches, and a decent pair of road shoes should be fine on the tarmac and gravelly route.

Fantastic marshals and volunteers, a great route and beautiful location make this a parkrun not to be missed. Stick around and explore some of the art installations after your run too!
