Following on from the earlier video and with a bit less light this time, the high tide was as large as predicted and the new seafront defences had their first serious test. The efforts made to enlarge the drainage holes were worthwhile; as you can see that it is necessary to get rid of the water behind the prom walls as soon as possible. It confirms the thought that the seafront would be at least 100 metres further back if the first prom hadn't been built after the great storm of 1836.
