National Park number 49 for the year takes me to Guadalupe National Park in west Texas where I couldn't pass up the hike to Devils Hall!

Guadalupe Mountains National Park is one of 2 National Parks in Texas. Even though Guadalupe Mts is officially in Texas, its just a short drive from Carlsbad Caverns and Carlsbad New Mexico! It was perfect to hit up both parks two days in a row.

Guadalupe Mountains NP is home to the 4 highest peaks in Texas! It was a windy day, so I chose not to hike to Guadalupe Peak the official high point of Texas and instead hiked to Devil's Hall.

Devil's Hall was the first recommendation of the ranger on duty and I am so happy I too her advise. The hike was just over 2 miles, but went through a wash for the majority of the hike. There are boulders to climb over and a scramble up some "stairs" to lead you to the hall itself. So much fun and so worth the extra effort on rough terrain.

I checked out Frijole Ranch while I was in the area before moving on to Big Bend National Park!
