Hip dysplasia is a condition where the ball and socket joint of the hips does not properly form in babies and young children. It is the commonest condition which requires surgical correction in childhood. Hip dysplasia can be treated very easily with conservative means but it is missed. It can be treated very easily in the first 6 months of life with a simple strapping method which is known as pelvic harness for 23 months after which the hip joint becomes completely inside the socket.
