Hip Dysplasia in dogs is a condition where there has been an abnormal formation of the hip socket and this can cause lameness or arthritis of the joints. Hip Dysplasia doesn't have to be a death sentence. Hip Dysplasia can be treated either with medicine and/or surgery. Hip Dysplasia does not only occur through genetics but there are environmental factors that also cause Hip Dysplasia. Don't be too quick to blame your breeder as Hip Dysplasia can also be brought about through an unnoticed injury. Other environmental factors such as overfeeding, overexercising a puppy at too young an age can also cause Hip Dysplasia in Dogs.

Larger dog breeds are more prone to this condition although medium and smaller breeds can also be affected by this.
