Hip Openers + Compass Pose (Visvamitrasana)

HIP OPENERS + COMPASS POSE VARIATIONS
Use props to practice your hip openers for compass pose (kneeling, seated, and standing) step by step.
Compliment this class with: "Flexibility Guide to Splits"

This tutorial is to help you build your compass pose from the ground up! Expect lots of yummy hip openers / hamstring stretches (starting gentle with reclined compass) as we work to the poses that require balance.
Recommended to pair this class with "Flexibility Guide to Split" to increase your hip/leg flexibility!

Pose sequence:
1. Gentle reclined happy baby half happy baby
2. Gentle reclined compass
3. Seated side stretches
4. Modified downdog/forward fold/malasana+twists
5. Side angle Triangle (with bind)
6. Modified bird of paradise
7. Lizard Lunge
8. Wide half split
9. Kneeling compass (half compass)
10. Janusrisasana side bend
11. Double pigeon/firelog
12. Seated Compass
13. Standing Compass
Move slowly, mindfully, and be patient with your body as it starts to open in areas that are not typically worked on. Finding your breath is more important than depth.

Do your best to find length in your low back (instead of rounding, sit up tall) and take your time. Flexibility takes time for the body to open up, be patient and concentrate on feeling the stretch rather than achieving the pose. Hope this was helpful!!
