Elderly widower Patrick, frightened by a new world he cannot understand, hides himself away in his sitting room and fantasises about the days he spent with his wife in dance halls during their youth. With the sudden arrival of his granddaughter, who has visited to help him put away his old mementos, Patrick is forced to choose: should he remain forever with his memories, or take a chance in creating a new relationship?
