The flooding has affected a large geographic area, including parts of Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota, and Minnesota. Towns along rivers and lakes have experienced major flooding, with boat rescues and evacuations taking place. The flooding has caused significant damage to farm fields, with many acres lost and crops underwater. Despite the flooding, the grain markets have not shown much concern, as other major growing regions are experiencing drought conditions. The cattle market, on the other hand, has seen some movement due to the flooding. Natural gas prices may see an increase due to extreme heat and potential sanctions on Russian natural gas by the EU. Diesel fuel prices may also be affected, and options trading is available for both diesel and heating oil contracts.
