HMMWV (HUMVEE) Coolant Tank Upgrade

With a small leak in the plastic OME coolant tank, it was time to replace it. Factoring the general cost with the average probability of some sort of failure, I decided to upgrade to an aluminum version. After seeing it on a fellow COHOG (Colorado Hummer/Hmmwv Owners Group: on FB) members M998, it seemed like a good upgrade. The tank seems to have a higher volume than the OME one for the M998 and being made from aluminum, I would suspect it would disperse heat a little better.
The tank is a generic fit for H1 and Hmmwv. There are multiple threaded ports for fitting to accommodate all the vehicles over the years. For ports that are not in use the tank comes with metal plugs to thread in.
For all the threaded fittings I used the same black gasket sealer I used for my Oil Pressure Sending Unit replacement. This handles heat up to 500F and holds up to petroleum products. So I would assume it's safe for this project.
The tank looks great!
Two things to note.
1) The tank being slightly larger, it's not a perfect drop in on the Hmmwv. It will press up agains the air intake tube and sit slightly ascu even when you synch it down. But it fits and is stable ,which is the most important thing.
2) The plugs that come with the tank have a different thread than what's tapped into the tank. The spacing is visibly different and the threaded plugs went about half way on the small one before bind and the larger one was super loose but did get a bit of traction when all the way seated. For all of these I used the gasket sealer which after 24hr curing, seemed to be a solid seal.
Would these two things prevent me from making this upgrade..no. As long as nothing fails...all is good.
