Home Maintenance of the Singer 700 Series Sewing Machines

I go through some basic home maintenance so you can keep your Singer 700 series sewing machine running smoothly and extend its life.
This is not a full service but I cover everything the manuals mention about maintenance such as lubricating and cleaning.

There are some interesting differences in the maintenance requirements for the different models.
The 760 manual mentions that you don't need to lubricate that model but from what I can see I would take that with a grain of salt.

Oil is used for the bearings and grease is used for the gears on some models. You'll need sewing machine oil and maybe some grease, depending on what model you have.

Cleaning is done with a brush and if you have access to compressed air then you could use that.

I show how to remove the face plate, top and bottom covers and how to refit them.

There's a problem with the 760 not running very smoothly and it's very noisy at higher speeds so I sort that out.

The 700 series Singers are precision made in Germany and are beautiful and very functional, not to mention easy to use.
