Hope Mill is a pioneer waterpowered sawmill on the Indian River one mile north of Lang Ontario. Established in 1835 as a carding and fulling mill for processing wool it was converted to a saw mill in the 1880's, after the sawmill in Lang burned. The mill was run by the Hope family until the 1960's. In 2000, after being unused for many years, a volunteer group of retirees started to restore it. That work now completed, the milll is run by their nonprofit Friends of Hope Mill whose mission is to preserve the history and demonstrate pioneer sawing.
