If you want to be able to control your scoliosis it is very important to release of tight hip muscles. The psoas muscle connects the femur to the spine. In people who have scoliosis the back bends to the side which will cause a shortening and tightening of the psoas on that same side. If you straighten your spine with surgery and then try and stand up without lengthening the shortened psoas it will then pull on your spine potentially giving you pain and increasing wear and tear on any discs that aren't fused. So, do yourself a favor and stretch out your hips...
