How can tenants defend themselves at a non payment of rent at the LTB?

landlords have the impression that when a matter gets to the tribunal that they are GUARANTEED an eviction. The truth of the matter is that the LTB's mandate is to preserve the tenancy. Tenants can raise certain issues that may persuade the board to adjourn or dismiss a matter.

Here are the 5 defenses that a tenant can raise:
1) Errors in the notice
2) Problems with service
3) Payment of rent proof
4) Section 82 issues can be raised
5) Section 83 issues can be raised

It is imperative that you hire a legal representative that has extensive knowledge of the procedures of the LTB and the issues that a tenant can bring up so you can handle them with a positive income.
