The ease of socalled “keyless theft” is one reason for the huge surge in the number of cars being stolen off people’s driveways as they sleep.
Analysis of Office for National Statistics data by The Times found that last year a car was stolen every 3 mins 50 seconds. In total, 135,526 cars were reported as stolen last year, the highest number in more than a decade.
