The Axiom mod is a new building tool mod that is being developed for modern Minecraft. It adds an entirely new way of building inspired by 3D modelling tools and WorldEdit! I'll show you them side by side and compare them for you in this video.

In short, Axiom is a great building tool. There are things in Axiom that I really prefer over a tool like WorldEdit, but some things are easier and better to do in one over the other. My opinion is, use both! I love when new building tools come out because it just makes everyone more excited about building again!
