How are Formula 1 Drivers so insane at Braking?!
The cars generate so much G force, but they have such huge braking potential in every corner how is this possible? In this video, we're going to look at the Formula 1 Braking system, and explain the hows and whys of optimizing brake balance!
I've left some of my calculations below...

Assumptions:
Car Mass: 800kg
Weight Distribution: 45%
CoG Height: 0.3m
Wheelbase: 3m
CL: 6 (lift coefficeint)
Air density: 1.293 kg/m^3
Aero Balance: 50%
Tyre Mu 1.1
Calculate Static Load on Each Axle
Fz_front = CarMass * 9.81 m/s^2 * WeightDistribution
Fz_rear = CarMass*9.81m/s^2 * (1 WeightDistribution)
Calculate Total Downforce at 320kph:
Fz_aero = 0.5 * AirDensity * CL * (89m/s)^2
Fz_aero_front = Fz_aero * AeroBalance
Fz_aero_rear = Fz_aero * (1AeroBalance)
Calculate Max Braking Force:
Fz_total = CarMass *9.81 m/s^2 + Fz_aero
Fx_max = TyreMu * Fz_total
gLong_max = Fx_max / CarMass
Load Transfer:
Fz_xfer = gLong_max * CarMass *CoGHeight / Wheelbase
Then calculate the total load on the front and rear axles!
