Doxepin is used for sleep management in the people with insomnia. Due to its sedative action, it can induce sleep. It can be taken 30 min before bedtime.

Doxepin is a tricyclic antidepressant that is available as tablet. It increases the levels of serotonin and norepinephrine in the brain. It also blocks histamine receptors resulting in sedation. It is used for short term treatment of insomnia up to 710 days. Alcohol and other antihistamines can increase drowsiness when they are combined with doxepin.
