The Patient Story

Susan Kanoff first noticed a swollen lymph node in her neck in the summer of 2018. After being told it was just a virus, she eventually got bloodwork done that showed high white blood cell counts. In January 2019, at age 61, she was diagnosed with a rare cancer called chronic lymphocytic leukemia or CLL.

Though she felt fairly healthy, she had some mild fatigue she could recall from childhood. After her diagnosis, Susan threw herself into researching holistic approaches like diet and exercise but found they didn't impact her CLL. In this cancer vlog, she talks about finding a CLL specialist and starting on venetoclax and obinutuzumab after five years of watch and wait.

Susan stresses the importance of researching your disease, finding CLL specialists, getting second opinions, and being your own advocate.
