How I make a beautiful natural sheaf of fresh garden flowers for a funeral.

Common Farm Flowers

There is a need for funeral flowers to be completely natural. It is increasingly the case that churchyards and natural burial sites which are planted to be wildflower and woodland havens make it a condition that funeral flowers which are left on graves are 100% compostable. Here's one way to make flowers for a coffin as a large handtie. This way, if people like, the flowers can be either left to mark the grave, where they will slowly degrade into the soil. Or they can be taken to the gathering after the funeral and put in water and then given away afterwards. Cuttings can be taken from the shrubby material used in the sheaf and planted, making a new garden, and a growing reminder of someone who's died.
