Getting students, especially middle schoolers, to actively engage and talk about their reactions, thoughts, and opinions, on what they read can be a challenge. Not too long ago I had a student admit "Ms. Robinson actually made me like reading." It is these moments that make a teacher feel like she is doing something right. In this video I share a few of the strategies that I integrate into my language arts lessons, that encourage students to share their thinking.
