How Induction Stoves Work

This short video shows how an induction #stove works. See how the elements on an induction #range heat the cookware to #cook food.

Consider replacing your electric or gas range with an induction stove to save energy and cook safer.

Induction ranges look similar to radiant cooktops with glass surfaces and heating elements located below the surface.

Also called smooth tops, induction cooktops use an electromagnetic field to transfer energy to the pot or pan. Although similar in appearance to radiant cooktops, induction cooktops heat food faster and use less energy than their radiant counterparts. Because induction cooktops work using indirect heat, the surfaces do not get as hot as their radiant ranges. They also do not glow red when hot.

Although the heating elements are largely invisible on an induction cooktop, it is not uncommon to hear a buzzing or slight whistling sound when cooking with an induction cooktop.

Watch this induction cooktop video and follow these easy tips to get the most out of your kitchen appliance.

Tip 1: Use caution with your induction range as the cooktop may appear to be cool, but could be hot due to residual heat transferred by the cookware.

Tip 2: Watch for the hot surface indicator light, which will glow when the surface is hot.
