Last week were deep in the feels. This week we're getting nerdy again! I wanted to know: how much are we actually paying for our watercolors after accounting for the water weight? Using popular brands of tube paints readily available to me in the US, I wanted to see how much color each dries down when poured fresh from the tube.

This is not a perfect experiment and it's not meant to be exhaustive. I'm just one lil gal with limited finances, so I couldn't include every brand. My apologies if I couldn't include your favorite. My hope for this video is that it gets us thinking about more than a flat sticker price when it comes to placing value on our supplies.

Will I repeat this test on new paints for the rest of time? Of course not! But noticing how much a color shrinks (or doesn't) is good to keep in mind when deciding what colors to buy moving forward. As always, happy painting!
