In 2022, I released my indie game, Dann Fox & The Time Machine, on Steam after two years of hard work. Did my dream project pay off? The results were not what I expected...

Starting in 2020, I left my job to dive into indie game development, moving from making mobile games to creating a real game. My initial vision was a Crash Bandicootinspired platformer with a Minecraft aesthetic and Soulslike combat. The development process was challenging, involving learning coding, 3D modeling, texturing, art direction, level design, sound design, and more.

Dann Fox & The Time Machine follows Dann, a fox on a quest to save his kingdom by collecting reactors through time using a time machine disguised as a coffee grinder. With 50 levels, numerous boss fights, customizable weapons, and a rich story, I poured my heart into this game.

However, my marketing efforts fell short. With only 300 wishlists on release day and minimal promotion, my game sold just 5 copies on the first day and 87 copies in two years, totaling $0 in earnings since Steam requires a $100 threshold to payout.

This experience taught me the importance of early promotion and marketing. Despite the setback, I didn't give up on my dream. I'm now working on a new project focused on exploration, puzzles, and combat, aiming for a release by the end of the year.
