As much as we love coming in for the "carrier break," sometimes we aren't allowed to do so. This is especially true when we have DVs (distinguished visitors) in the back—mostly so they don't get sick for their onceinalifetime flight out to an aircraft carrier.
In this video, we are flying a Navy C2 Greyhound out to the USS George H.W. Bush. Typically for a carrier break in a C2, you turn about one mile past the ship to fly a racetrack landing pattern before rolling into short final. For this landing, we had to perform a “DV StraightIn” because of the VIPs on board. Although it’s not as exciting as a typical carrier break, this is still a great video to grasp a sense of what it takes to land a cargo plane on a moving runway in the middle of the ocean.
This is also a redo of a video I previously uploaded under the same title. Due to popular demand, I added a voiceover to the original footage. Here's the link to the original video: • Looking For Our Aircraft Carrier
