There's a lot of mystery around the pelvic floor, which is the base of the group of muscles referred to as your ‘core’. These muscles are located in your pelvis and stretch like a hammock from the pubic bone to the coccyx or tailbone. Follow along with trained physio and Pilates instructor Chloe de Winter as she takes you through the correct way to activate through your pelvic floor.
The pelvic floor muscles work with your deep abdominal (tummy) and deep back muscles and diaphragm to stabilise and support your spine. They also help control the pressure inside your abdomen to deal with the pushing down force when you lift or strain – such as during exercise.

Well+Good believes that wellness and health should be attainable for all—and recognizes the many barriers that prevent that from becoming a reality. Sitting at the crosssection of trends, service, and evidencebased journalism, we work to inform, empower, and educate communities and individuals when it comes to fitness, mental health, beauty, food, relationships, finance, and all other ways your daytoday impacts your ability to live well, while working to challenge the systems that could hold you (or others) back. Your wellbeing is a birthright. Wellness is how you get there.
