Fee: $45 (cash, debit, or credit card). Volunteer The Criminal Record Check office is open, but online checks are encouraged due to COVID19. Required: 2 pieces of valid ID (one with full date of birth, at least one photo ID). Must reside in the City of Regina. May need a letter from the volunteer organization. Fee: $10 (as of March 19, 2018). Employer For Criminal Record Checks for employees, refer to the Employment / Work Related section. Student If a Criminal Record Check is needed for a class credit, refer to the Employment / Work Related section. Police Information Check Process – Civil Standard Police Information Check/Criminal Record Check
Includes a CPIC criminal record search and a check of local indices of the Regina Police Service. The letter may include all convictions found in local records, including charges before the courts and conditions imposed by court orders. Apprehensions or matters related to the Mental Health Services Act or the Youth Drug Detoxification and Stabilization Act will not be disclosed. Certified Criminal Record Check Some organizations may require this check, confirmed by prints and conducted by the Regina Police Service. Informed Consent Applicants must provide informed consent, witnessed by an RPS agent, for Police Information Checks, Criminal Record Checks, or Vulnerable Sector Name Checks. Identification Applicants must present two valid pieces of ID in person to an RPS agent. One must be governmentissued with a name, date of birth, photo, and signature. Residency Applicants must reside or have a permanent address in this jurisdiction. If not residing for the past five years, a statement about possible records in other jurisdictions may be included. Vulnerable Sector Check The RPS can refuse to perform this check if the position doesn't meet the definition. If requested, authorization can be sent to Ottawa. This check includes a comprehensive police information check and possibly fingerprints sent to the RCMP National Repository. SelfDeclaration Applicants may selfdeclare their conviction history, excluding pardoned offenses and young offender charges. If declared charges match the RCMP National Repository record, prints may not be necessary. Youth Records Youth records will not be released unless access is granted under specific sections of the Youth Criminal Justice Act. Outstanding Warrants Outstanding warrants must be resolved before a Police Information or Criminal Records Check letter is issued. Results
Results will be communicated to the applicant or authorized person via a letter from the Chief of Police or delegate. The letter will state the searches conducted and any relevant criminal history. Fees Employment or student work experience/practicum checks cost $45. Additional fees for prints sent to Ottawa are $25, not charged for volunteers with a letter from the organization. The requesting agency/individual determines the acceptable duration for the results.
