The interrogative particle "tu" is used very often in Quebec French to ask closeended (yes/no) questions. It comes from Old French and is a gradual transformation of the interrogative mood in the third person.

To use the "tu" in informal contexts, you can simply formulate a question using intonation, then add a "tu" after the verb. The simple rule on where to place the "tu" is to place it were the "pas" is in the negative mood. This is true for all grammatical persons.
