Why pay big money when you can build a pond skimmer for $40 ?! We show you how we built a small pond skimmer box step by step. We used stainless steel screws, washers, and nuts. Those were used to attach to two pieces of Lexan and pond liner to a 14 gallon Rubbermaid tub. This then housed a 2100 GPH Alpine pump which we found on Amazon:

The installation of the 14 gallon rubbermaid actionpacker has 6x3 inch hole cut into the side and the Lexan sheets were used to build a gasket to sandwich the pond liner to the 14 gallon tote.

A pond skimmer is designed to filter off the surface of the pond and floating leaves and debris before they can float to the bottom of the pond and decay and are critical to the life and maintenance of the pond.
