Let’s Fix Things

How to build a new retaining wall strong enough to hold up a vehicle/driveway!

Ripping out an old timber retaining wall and installing a new VersaLok “Standard”segmental drystack (gravity block) retaining wall to expand the parking area on the side of the driveway. We also redid the front bank flower beds once the retaining wall was completed. Multiple videos!

Equipment used:
Caterpillar 302.5 mini excavator with 18 inch and 36 inch grading bucket
John Deere 790 tractor
Ford F350 Powerstroke truck
Dump Trailer
Still Demo/Concrete saw with diamond blade
Spectra laser level
Wacker Compactor
Tracked concrete buggy
MultiquipMikasa plate compactor
VerseLok Segmental retaining wall blocks
GeoGrid
Soil reinforcement fabric
Paver setting mallet
12 inch torpedo level
18 inch level
4 foot level
8 ft level
Mason string
Stihl backpack blower
Retaining wall adhesive
Filter fabric paper

3 tons screed chip stone
9 tons 3/4 process base material
15 tons large reclaimed driveway base
70 tons large clean drainage/back fill stone

The entire job was recorded so you can see all the actual steps from beginning to end of the job. There is a lot more to building a retaining wall than just a 15 minute video. So I decided to record the entire process from day one to the last day of clean up. That makes this a multiple video job. I hope this helps and you enjoy the progress as we work our way through.
