⚓How to build the model ship "San Felipe" n° 36 || weathering barrels.

To make the smooth, light brown barrels look weathered, I went through a number of steps:
1) imperfections were applied by sanding and filing (not shown in video):
2) shallow vertical grooves were carved into the barrels to mimic the staves;
3) a scalpel was used to sharply deepen the grooves;
4) hoops were coloured black with a black marker;
5) hoops were painted over with a ‘rust colour’ paint;
6) everything was sanded/filed again. Over the hoops here and there to reflect the rusty character;
7) finally, the hoops were worked with a water/white glue/carbon mixture.

Because of the closeup filming method, the part with the filing is not so well portrayed.
