Show Me Construction Mark Meyer Construction.

In this video, I will show you how to install a 6 foot, 6 inch wood fence. I used cedar tone fence wood from Home Depot. This type of wood is weatherfriendly. You can also buy what's called pressure treated wood fencing.

There are several ways to build a fence and in this video, I demonstrate just one of the many ways. This fence was purchased and installed in 2021 and the all materials cost around $1,800 for 170 feet of fence. This price does not include the cost of labor.

Thanks for watching!

Step 1: Decide where your posts will go. I space mine 8 feet apart. You can use string/stakes to do this but I used the cyclone fence as my guide since the owner didn't want to take it down.

Step 2: Dig post holes (at least 2 feet deep).

Step 3: Set posts, check for leveling and add cement. My ground was wet from rain so I didn't add water to the cement. You can add water to your holes or premix the cement with water and dump it in. If you are leaving your cement dry, you can compact it in. I used 60lb. bags of cement, one bag per hole. You can also purchase bags of fence post cement.

Step 4: Screw or nail on your grass/kick board (if using one). I used 1 1/2in. quick screws. You can also used the galvanized nails.

Step 5: Add the rails (2x4s). I did 3 rails every 8 feet and used 3in. deck screws.

Step 6: If you used 8ft. posts then you're likely going to want to use a skill saw and trim the tops so they don't stick up past the top rail.

Step 7: Add your pickets. I used 2in galvanized nails and shot them in with my 16gauge nail gun.

Tools:
16gauge nail gun
Air compressor and hose
Hammer
Metal Pole Bar for the digging
Post Hole Digger
Skill Saw
Screw Gun
Level for the posts

Materials:
6ft. cedar toned pickets
12ft. cedar toned Grass/kick board
2x4s for Rails
8ft. 4x4s Fence posts (7 ft. also available)
3in. deck screws (for the rails)
2in. galvanized nails (for the pickets)
1 1/2in. quick screws (for grass board if installing one)
Piece of wood (wood cleat) to hold my grass boards together and save on wood. I demonstrate why I used this in the video.
60lb bag of cement or fence post cement.

All purchased at Home Depot. This video is not sponsored.
