How to catch sand crabs at the beach. It is a fun activity to catch these little critters also known as mole crabs or sand fleas. Their scientific name is Emerita. We just like to catch sand crabs and put them in a bucket with sand and ocean water. We observe them, then let them go before we leave the beach. Many people also use them as bait to fish. Mole crabs come in different sizes and we always try to catch the big ones. Sand fleas are very cool pets while you are at the beach.
